Izaya Orihara loved humans. His love for humans was greater than anything. But his love for one particular human surpassed all. Her name was Sora. Sora Akarui. He loved her, and she loved him. They wanted to be with each other every single second of their lives. If they could, they would spend the entire cuddling as they watched a movie. They would kiss, cuddle, and fall asleep in each others arms, just like that. Izaya was very content; happy with life. He had a job that payed very well, and a cute lover by his side. Nothing could be more perfect.
Until her love for him vanished.
It all happened on a crystal clear night. The sky was just blue and black with little stars hiding behind the clouds. Sora, being a member of the Awakusu-Kai, was on a job. She was more of Shiki's bodyguard; personal assasin. Anyone was believed to be a threat to the Awakusu was to be under surveilance by her and her partner, Tobi. If they proved to be a real threat, and have shown that they plan on killing a member of the Awakusu, she was to kill them on the spot. And that was the case on that night.
"Izaya... I have to go..." Sora breathed. Izaya had pinned her down on the couch, trailing kisses along her neck and jaw. He ignored her and moved to nibble softly on her ear. "Nnn... Izaya... Please... I have to go..." Her small hands moved to his chest, and she tried to push him off. His lips stopped and he gave a huff before getting off of her.
"Fine... But when you get back I get to continue with no interruptions," he said.
"You still want to kiss me even if I'm all bloody and sweaty?" she questioned with a small smirk.
"As long as it's your blood, I don't mind. But as for the sweat, you have to shower before I kiss you anywhere."
She smiled at him softly, which was rare considering Sora showed almost no emotion whenever someone other than Izaya was around. "Okay... I'll see you later. I love you..."
He walked up to her and cupped her face in his hands before leaning down to kiss her lips softly. He pulled away and pressed his forehead to hers. "Love you too..."
And Izaya wished he never would have let her go that night.
"Tell me why you tried to break into our organization. Tell me, why did you want to kill Shiki-san?" Sora slammed her foot down on the man's stomach. And with the combat boots she wore, it was sure to have hurt him. Tobi stood a few feet away, swiping through his phone as his eyes lazily drifted to the two.
"Better answer her," he drawled. "Or else you'll have a slow painful death. Then again, you'll die either way, so just talk."
"I know nothing..." the man hissed, only to shout in pain when a cool, steel blade came in contact with his flesh, slashing it open and causing blood to ooze out.
"You know something. Now be a good boy and tell us."
"Tch... Your boss is crazy rich. I want money. Kill him, you get money. Understand?"
"You truly are an idiot."
SLASH. SCREAM. SPLATTER.
He was dead.
It happened when she and Tobi headed to Shiki's office. Her favorite black hoodie with cat ears was now stained with blood. No matter. Izaya could easily clean that up for her. He could also clean up those little cuts on her face. The man who was just killed managed to cut her up a bit. No matter. He was dead. And because Izaya is so strange, he would gladly lick the bloody cuts clean. He may even say something along the lines of, "Your blood is so sweet~ Makes me want to have more~" And he would pull out his switchblade and tease her. Her face grew hot just thinking about what he told her before she left.
"When you get back, I get to continue with no interruptions."
They've never done it before. She thought, "Would they do it tonight?" She felt that if they did it, they're love for each other would just grow. And that made her eager. She didn't care if it hurt. All that mattered was that it had to be him. No exceptions. Not even Shizuo, who was like her big brother, could take Izaya's spot. No one could.
Unless she forgot all about him.
"Is she okay?!"
"We were ambushed... We managed to knock em' all out except for one... He must've done his research... Cuz' he went and threw her into the beach waters..."
"Sora can't swim. And her heart... She has a weak heart!"
Izaya arms shook as he craddled his love. Never in his life was he this frantic. This worried. This scared. That's right. Izaya Orihara was scared. Scared that the love of his life would never wake up. That her heart would seize to beat. That she would never smile, never hold him, never kiss him. That she would leave him forever.
In the hospital she lay. Her eyes were shut close and her heart was still beating slowly. Her face was covered by an oxygen mask as she was put on a lifeline. For days she wouldn't wake up. She wouldn't stir. The only evidence that showed that she was getting better was when her heart beat increased. And that was enough for Izaya.
"Wake up soon, Sora..." he would always say. "I'll be waiting right here; next to you..."
For three months she wouldn't stir. For three months, she lay in the hospital bed. And everyday Izaya would come to visit her, whispering sweet nothings in her ear, kissing her softly. The doctors had concluded that she was in a coma. Izaya didn't care. He knew she would wake up. All he had to do was wait.
And finally, at the end of the fourth month, her blue eyes fluttered open. Izaya was ecstatic. Even Shinra, Celty, and Shizuo were there. Shiki, Tobi, and other members from the organization were there.
"Sora, I'm so happy you're awake..." Izaya whispered as he kissed her small hand tenderly.
But everything shattered when she spoke,
"Who are you...?"
